Federal Circuit Court of Australia 2024-2025 Family Law Fees
The Federal Circuit Court of Australia annually updates fees for family law matters every July 1st, including the Family Court costs.
Currently, Family Court cost fees are:
- Conciliation conference – $480 (both)
- Daily hearing fee (for each hearing day, excluding the first hearing day) – $770 (Div2) / $1,045 (Div1)
- Setting down for hearing fee (defended matter) – non-refundable – $770 (Div2) / $1,045 (Div1)
These fees are subject to change on July 1st, 2025.
How Do You Pay?
Court event fees can be paid online (receive a statement with your PID number) via eservices.comcourts.gov.au
This can be done with a Credit, Debit or Eftpos card.
It can be done via mail using a Visa and MasterCard credit/debit card.
*If you don’t have a credit/debit card, you can purchase a pre-paid debit card from a range of retail outlets for a nominal fee.

Guidelines for Exemption of Court Fees
You can apply to get an exemption from court fees for several reasons, including:
- Concession Card Holder – You are the primary cardholder (not a dependant) of a Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card, Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, or any other concession card issued by Services Australia or the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Legal Aid Recipient – You have been granted Legal Aid for your case through an official Legal Aid office, an approved legal aid scheme, or an accredited community legal centre.
- Independent Children’s Lawyer – If you have been appointed as an Independent Children’s Lawyer under the Family Law Act, you may qualify for a fee exemption on subpoena and interim application fees.
- Government Payment Recipient – You are currently receiving Youth Allowance, Austudy, or ABSTUDY payments.
- Minor – You are under the age of 18.
- Legally Detained – You are an inmate of a prison or are otherwise legally detained in a public institution.
